What is At the End of Your Rainbow?

            Imagine the days when rainbows first appeared.  Picture Noah's wife and family, as they gazed at the great expanse of azure sky.  Did they feel as though they were looking into the face of God?

Noah was one of the biggest heroes of faith in the Old Testament. He obeyed God, even when God asked Him to build an ark on dry land, and at the age of 600!  Noah survived a forty-day flood that destroyed the entire earth. The Lord gave Noah and the world a fresh start, and set a glorious rainbow in the sky as a symbol and reminder of His promise to never again destroy the world by means of a worldwide flood, no matter how far we stray from Him. How assuring it must have been for Noah's family to know that God remembered them?cared enough to give them a second chance.

When our joy is overshadowed by storms and clouds, it is time to look for rainbows.  God put incredible forethought into this glorious phenomenon, His gift to us.

Miracle of the Rainbow

A rainbow is made up of seven colors of light and appears only during or immediately after a rain shower. The number seven biblically symbolizes completeness and perfection.  His promises are complete, and perfect!  The light of the sun shines through the rain, causing the light to bend and reflect off the rain.  The light of the SON shines through the DARKNESS in our lives, and others can see the Light in us.

Every Person Sees Their Own Rainbow

            No one sees the same rainbow!  They are as unique to the viewer as our own personal relationships to the Lord are.  As the eyes of two people cannot occupy the same place in space at the same time, each observer sees a different rainbow.  God's promises are plentiful.  Some, meant for everyone, and others personalized just for us.

Endless Love

            Rainbows are circles and can only be viewed as such from above the earth, such as in an airplane.  We cannot follow the arc of a rainbow down below the horizon, because we cannot see the raindrops in the air below the horizon.  However, the higher we are above the ground, the more of the rainbow circle we would see. 

A circle represents infinity or eternity.  He desires us to know that His love is forever.  We are actually cradled in the center of the rainbow--surrounded by His love!  It is a love that never ends.  The glorious bow on the horizon is our assurance of God's all-encompassing, unconditional love.

After Our Storms

            A rainbow is a glorious sight to the weary Christian.  As it arches across the horizons, it is like a portico to our lives.  It is a sure sign that we are not alone, that God knows our hearts and our pain, and that new joy and promises to be fulfilled will come to pass.

A Symbol of Grace and Second Chances

            The rainbow reminds us that God's utmost plan for us is our salvation, not our destruction.  That beautiful bow in the sky promises us a relationship with God.  It is a promise of restoration, not separation.  God makes covenants with people because He chooses to be in a relationship with us.  He wants to be in a relationship with us!  He gives us opportunities to turn around.  He gives us second chances because He loves us.  Adam and Eve were the first to receive a second chance.  Moses and the Israelites, Ruth, David, even Jonah - all received second chances. 

Rainbows in the Darkness

            Rainbows can be seen in the moonlight!  Even in the darkness, God's promises are revealed.  The Word of God shines hope even when the sun is hidden and shadows cloudy starless skies.  God's promises are rainbows in the night.  They are like stars, the darker the night, the brighter they shine.

The Pot Of Gold

            In our hectic and often anxious lives, we forget God's promises.  As we see the rainbow making an arc in the sky, do we really believe that God is with us through every circumstance?  Do we look at the rainbow as Noah did, and see the face of our Father? 

God promises that He will be with us throughout eternity. He promises riches in heaven to all who believe and follow Him.   The "pot of gold" at the end of the rainbow, is His Word, which promises salvation if we put our lives in a relationship with Jesus Christ.  What's at the end of your rainbow?  Hopefully, it's heaven.
