Pina Coladas and the Pearly Gates My groovy girlfriends and I attempt to uncork the truth concerning Christians and alcohol consumption in the fourth book of our Powder Room Series, "Pina Coladas and the Pearly Gates," in our usual bubbly way. With our hearts on our sleeves, we mine the depths of the Bible, examine historical data and stats, and search our hearts, consciences, experiences, victories and regrets for the answer to: "Is it OK for Christians to drink?" This is an excellent book for group study! Pina Coladas and the Pearly Gates is available in bookstores and in online bookstores now. If you order any book in the Powder Room Series, please send me a copy of the receipt, and I'll send you an autographed plate for each book you order.

 | Honey Do |
 |
|
In order to make one tablespoon of honey, a bee must collect nectar from two thousand flowers. To make one pound, they need two million flowers. That's a lot of flowers. Each flower offers tiny droplets in exchange for pollination services.
The honey, to bees, is their only source of energy food. They store this honey for use as food during times when flowers aren't blooming, like in the winter. So they eat on the run, yet store food away for the lean times.
God's word is like honey. Psalm 119:103 tells us that God's word tastes sweeter than honey in the mouth. I can attest to that! When I'm in the Word, and fellowshipping with the Lord, it's like springtime, all the time. Miracles happen, joy happens, and God's glory shines as bright as the mid-day sun. The liquid honey of His presence envelopes me, and I'm nourished and satisfied.
When I'm away from the Word, it's a long, hard cold winter, let me tell you! My life takes on a flat patina; there's no depth, no color, my joy wanes, and I become lifeless. Worse still, others can't see God through me.
Spending time reading the Bible changes me so that what I say and do (and write!) becomes as honey to people around me. That's what I want. I want to be like that flower that pollinates. I want the nectar to flow off of me so others will taste the sweet honey of God's love and joy; and perhaps they will pollinate and spread God's nectar too.
I thank God everyday for His word. It's tried, tested, and true. It's amazing and real. It's for today. It's for everyday.
